I don’t do movie reviews often, but when something touches my life in an unusually significant way it must be shared! The movie War Room is something that not only inspired me, but absolutely changed my whole way of thinking and has at this point likely even changed the entire course of history for our family. It was a reminder of things long left behind and forgotten. The importance of daily time spent before God.
Somewhere along the way, I lost that. The habit and importance and simple time spent in the Word and in prayer.
As I began writing this post, I honestly felt overwhelmed. Where do I begin? How do I even start to get across the amazing life altering premise to my readers? I’ve tried to offer as much encouragement as I can over the years, but nothing can truly put into words how important I believe a movie like this can be for an entire family if applied in real life.
I, for one will be implementing this… BUT the biggest difference in my approach this time will be to teach and include the entire family. Everyone. The littlest ones included.
Giving it to God – Prayer is Powerful
If I were to ask myself how many times I have actually taken my biggest concerns and needs before God lately, the answer would be dismal. I am far more likely to just stress and worry about the big things we are dealing with than to remember to give it all to God! My kids, my husband, my everything needs to be given into His hands so that He can take care of things and fight for me. The world and the cultural crud that completely overwhelms me as I think of the future that my children will have to live in, needs to be given up to Him.
I can do nothing myself.
Taking the Next Step
Once you’ve watched the movie, if you decide to take the leap and apply the principles to your own life, be sure to check out the War Room Movie’s Resources page. Please understand that I in no way want anyone to feel that it would require any money to implement the strategies. I think that would completely go against the purpose here. Sure, there’s books you can purchase if you’re interested, but that in no way should hold anyone back from beginning to take steps toward creating a deeper more powerful prayer life.
Creating a Prayer Room
Not all of us have an entire room or a closet we can actually fully devote to prayer. That said, the movie made some significant points on the importance of having an area that is distraction free. I love the ideas of pinning up prayers and creating a corner even that’s just for prayer, but I do believe that the key point is that you are as uninterrupted and free of distractions as possible. There are many possibilities.
Faith Resources here at A Frog In My Soup
Long ago I hosted a book group study here at A Frog In My Soup on the book Power of A Praying Parent, I absolutely invite you to go through that study and feel free to “participate” even now. Also, feel free to browse through the devotions, faith journals and encouragement posts I have offered over the years and hopefully you will feel encouraged by some of them.
